Slam Dunk 2014

Slam Dunk Festival has been the best part of my year for the last three years, so naturally I’m over excited about the 2014 line up.

I’ve been compiling a list of bands who I suspect will be playing the upcoming Slam Dunk Festival and I thought I’d share it and see if anyone had picked up any other bands that could be added to the list.

In order of likeliness:

Real Friends very very likely
- I spoke to one of the guys after their gig in Newcastle and he basically slipped up and said that they’d be back in the UK in May to play Slam Dunk along with a new full length.

La Dispute very likely
- they are on a UK tour in May that finishes a few days before Slam Dunk.

The Wonder Years, State Champs & A Loss For Words likely
- again, they are all on a UK tour together in May that finishes a week before Slam Dunk.

Panic! At the Disco long shot
on a UK tour in May that finishes a couple of weeks before Slam Dunk.

Brand New even longer shot
- on a UK tour a month before Slam Dunk. Yet to add more dates though.

The Wonder Years.

I really can’t wait to see them at Slam Dunk on the 25th!

I’ve only seen them once before (November 2011) and I didn’t really know any of their material. I’d seen their name bouncing around on Tumblr and they happened to be playing my hometown the weekend I was visiting, so I just bought a ticket. But despite only knowing a couple of songs, I thought they were amazing.

So now, 18 months later, they are one of my favourite bands and I’m finally able to see them live again. I cannot wait!

Slam Dunk 2013

We still have to wait for the stage times to know who we can see exactly, but from the stage splits it looks like I’ll get to see:

Tonight Alive
The Story So Far
Transit / Mallory Knox
Man Overboard
Ace Enders / Allister
The Wonder Years
The Early November
Andrew McMahon

Awesome.

With the final Slam Dunk announcement, this is who I want to see:

All Time Low
Kids In Glass Houses
The Early November
Allister
Mallory Knox
Senses Fail
The Wonder Years
Man Overboard
[spunge]
Fireworks
Transit
The Story So Far
Handguns

Acoustic sets:
Andrew McMahon
William Beckett
Ace Enders
Class of ‘92

The last two years I saw 10 bands each time, which means I won’t be able to see 7 of the bands I’ve just listed. What a downer.

I don’t think I updated my own poster after the last announcement, so here it is. I’ve kind of massively gone off FYS since I added them to my poster, so I may remove them next time.
My top 5 ‘have to see’ bands are:
1) The Wonder Years2) The Early November3) Man Overboard4) Andrew McMahon5) Mallory Knox
I’m seeing Senses Fail and Handguns the night before in Newcastle, so unless there is no one else even slightly worth seeing playing when they are, I won’t see them at the festival.

That’s what I read.

My most listened to playlists in Spotify. Man, I love that festival!

I can go to Slam Dunk!!!

I’ve been waiting to see if my year schedule changes before I bought my SD13 ticket and today I found out it has changed. I have a deadline the day I see Senses Fail live, which is the day before Slam Dunk Festival. I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate!!

I want to see Say Anything again. I took this photo last year at Slam Dunk North, it was such an amazing gig!

TBS piss me off.

I used to really like them. But since seeing them at Slam Dunk in May and being ridiculously disappointed, I can’t stand them.

Once again, sorry Shane!

So yesterday I was walking around the merch stalls at Slam Dunk North and I saw Shane Henderson standing around holding a box of merch which said on the front of it "Shane Henderson (of Valencia)".

So as I walked past (in a semi-drunk state) I said to him:

"you need to carry a sign around saying you were in Valencia so people know who you are then?"

I meant it as a joke, 100%. I like Valencia and Promise of Redemption. I think he’s great. He thought I was insulting him though, so I went to find him again a bit later to apologise and explain I was joking.

And that’s why I shouldn’t drink.
