Slam Dunk 2013

We still have to wait for the stage times to know who we can see exactly, but from the stage splits it looks like I’ll get to see:

Tonight Alive
The Story So Far
Transit / Mallory Knox
Man Overboard
Ace Enders / Allister
The Wonder Years
The Early November
Andrew McMahon

Awesome.

Albums of 2013.

There have been some amazing releases already this year (and some poor ones…) so I thought I’d rank my preferences so far:

1. Paramore - Paramore 9/10 (239 plays)
2. Fall Out Boy - Save Rock and Roll 8.5/10 (190 plays)
3. Senses Fail - Renacer 7/10 (88 plays)
4. Mallory Knox - Signals 6.5/10 (179 plays)
5. The Story So Far - What You Don’t See 6/10 (82 plays)
6. Transit - Young New England 4/10 (39 plays)

and then later this year: Man Overboard, The Wonder Years, CIWWAF, Jimmy Eat World, 30STM, Andrew McMahon and Real Friends will be releasing new material too! Hell yeah 2013.

With the final Slam Dunk announcement, this is who I want to see:

All Time Low
Kids In Glass Houses
The Early November
Allister
Mallory Knox
Senses Fail
The Wonder Years
Man Overboard
[spunge]
Fireworks
Transit
The Story So Far
Handguns

Acoustic sets:
Andrew McMahon
William Beckett
Ace Enders
Class of ‘92

The last two years I saw 10 bands each time, which means I won’t be able to see 7 of the bands I’ve just listed. What a downer.

I don’t think I updated my own poster after the last announcement, so here it is. I’ve kind of massively gone off FYS since I added them to my poster, so I may remove them next time.
My top 5 ‘have to see’ bands are:
1) The Wonder Years2) The Early November3) Man Overboard4) Andrew McMahon5) Mallory Knox
I’m seeing Senses Fail and Handguns the night before in Newcastle, so unless there is no one else even slightly worth seeing playing when they are, I won’t see them at the festival.

Slam Dunk 2012

Today has been incredible! Looking forward to sorting through and editing all my photos tomorrow :)

Caught Tony Thaxtons drum stick after Motion City Soundtrack, met Shane Henderson, who didn’t get my joke and thought I’d insulted him, awkward… we worked things out though :p also met Joe from Transit again and Matt from Set Your Goals for the first time which was pretty sweet :)

Into it, Over it was an amazing surprise. I had no idea what to expect but I was blown away by his set. Incredible guitarist and awesome songs :)

Say Anything played, as I expected, a great set and I even saw a guy cry when they came on. I’m assuming with happiness :p I met a lass before their set who shared the same passion I have for Max Bemis and the Say Anythings which was cool. Never met a SA fan before.

Lower Than Atlantis were, erm… poor.

Taking Back Sunday weren’t as amazing as I’d hoped. Adam was a mental twat and was far too full of himself. When he came up to the barriers near me, people were grabbing at him and I thought to myself 'do you really wanna touch that??' Sound quality for main stage was pretty poor throughout the day, so I guess that wasn’t TBS’s fault.

Hope I can go back again next year!

Slam Dunk on tour

Decade: 8/10
I’d never heard them before but I was actually really impressed. Some great tracks which I’m definitely going to check out again.

The Story So Far: 10/10
Not much needs to he said for these guys. Incredible band, incredible set.

Transit: 9/10
Loved the set, played all my favourites. I really hope I can see them again someday.

Hit the Lights: 7/10
They have some great songs, but the set didn’t seem to go anywhere. The singer got angry with the crowd a few times when we didn’t laugh at his jokes which was a bit awkward. They closed with bodybag which was the highlight of the set for me.

Overall:
Great night, very tempted to go to the Nottingham date!!

bands I’m seeing next week:

Slam Dunk on tour:
Hit the Lights
Transit
The Story So Far

Slam Dunk Festival:
Taking Back Sunday
Capdown
Into it, Over it
Cartel
Shane Henderson
Save Your Breath
While She Sleeps
Motion City Soundtrack
Say Anything
Make Do and Mend
Lower Than Atlantis
Straight Lines

There are a few sets at the Festival which I’ll have to leave early/arrive late for, but it looks like it’ll be an incredible day!!

Tonight in Corp

I saw a guy who looked like the singer of Transit. I wanted to hug him.
